 COOL FREE RINGTONES

 Project page

The VIPtronic project is a collaborative effort between VIPPERs that have paid D A D D Y C O O L enough to gain access to the Secret Area of VIP Quality.

The musical styles may vary significantly, usually ranging within all facets of electronica but also presenting rock, blues and country tracks.
Since the project is open to any submission from the users, collaborations between VIPPERs, sampling from better-known tracks and joke/lore tracks are frequent and encouraged. Distribution is done through torrents, though there often are HTTP mirrors of the compilation.

Every VIPtronic release is accompanied by a compilation of world's best[citation needed] COOL FREE RINGTONES. This grants downloaders buyers legit and exclusive ringtones to exhibit on their iPhones and any other cellphones able to reproduce MP3.

Since July 2013 (a few days after the release of V I I I O L E N C E !), all the albums and related COOL FREE RINGTONES are available for direct download on viptronic.org.

Up through 8, it was BEAR NAGINATA MC. For 9 and 10, it was "We", and from then it has been Compiler-San.

General Rules

As a rule of thumb, the compilation creator works on enhancing tracks and blend them into a compilation, accepting any submission from any party, still keeping the final say on tracks.
From an historical standpoint, almost all the submissions for the albums and the COOL FREE RINGTONES have been accepted!

  1. Your submission must be your original creation (sampling, covers, and remixes are allowed), made specifically for the project, and not released in a net album or compilation before VIPtronic (releasing on SAoVQ, a personal site, or artist profile site is OK).
  2. Submissions usually should be sent before the indicated deadline. Individual cases and necessities will be evaluated.
  3. You must strive to make your submission VIP Quality. You are free to interpret this rule as you wish.
  4. You should try to do your best.
    • (Joke songs are exempt from that rule, but won't be accepted if they are unfunny or too long.)
  5. We tend to have a lot of electronic and chiptune music, since that's what computers do best, but all styles are welcome.
  6. You can submit your track anonymously or under the artist name or one-time alias of your choice. The default name for anonymous submissions is VIPPER.
  7. In all cases, your file's tags will be edited. Comments will be evaluated; still, comments left in other fields will be moved to the comments field.
  8. Your track must be either submitted in MP3 format or in a lossless format (FLAC, WAV, AIFF).
    • For MP3 files, the encoder settings are left to your discretion, but please prefer high quality settings. Make sure to normalize your track beforehand.
    • When sending lossless files, the album maker will take care of the encoding. At your request, dynamic range compression and normalization can be taken care of too, so that your submissions will sound way quieter than the other submissions (note that it can't be done on a MP3)
    • SAoVQ's imageboard only supports OGG files and zipped MP3 files. OGG files are fine to share a WIP, but they can't be accepted for the release.
  9. When submitting a COOL FREE RINGTONE (or suggesting a source to make one out of), note that it should not last more than about 30 secs, and that in the release, they are intentionally left uncredited and untitled.

How to submit a track

1st option: email it to the album creator

Send your file to the album creator via mail.
The e-mail address will be provided in the current project's SAoVQ thread.

In your mail, mention:

Please prefer attaching the files to hosting them on unreliable hosts. Gmail accepts attachments as large as 50MB, and sending split archives in multiple mails (if necessary for lossless files) is not a problem.

The privacy of your email address is guaranteed, and feel free to use a throwaway account if particularly concerned about that. Receipt of your mail will be acknowledged, so you'll be able to confirm you weren't filtered.

Additionally, your track will be kept secret until release, unless you choose to distribute it on SAoVQ.

2nd option: post it on SAoVQ

Make a post before deadline in the VIPtronic filedump thread (if the board works) with:

Then make a post in the current SAoVQ thread regarding the project, to notice the album creator of your submission. Unless you are requesting critique or inviting other to collaborate, please sage both posts, to avoid bothering too often those who don't wish to participate.

What if you can't make music (yet)

Participate anyway! You'll probably surprise yourself. It won't help that much, but here's some help with the first step: we've documented the music software we like to use.
Feel free to also ask for advice and critique in the SAoVQ thread.
